Rain Rain

Hurricane Irene hit this weekend. We were lucky to keep power throughout the storm and made it through without any damage. We had fun being rained-in. We colored, played with blocks, baked and cleaned. Penny was super excited to get back outside on Sunday afternoon. Bye Bye Irene!

Road Trip - Part 6

After a quick stop for lunch, we headed towards Pittsburgh for the beginning of our trip home. We stopped at the Pittsburgh Zoo. Penny LOVED the Zoo. She got to see giraffes, elephants, a polar bear and even penguins. We loved watching the elephants eat their hay. And we thought it was so cool to see just how big a baby elephant can be. Thank goodness Penny only weighed in the 7lb range at birth! We posed with a polar bear statue before we watched the polar bear eat his snack. And then we went inside their aquarium. Penny loved seeing the fish! And we even found someone to snap a family photo for us.Penny had fun checking out all the different kinds of fish. She like the seahorses and the bright colored fishies. Her absolute favorite exhibit were the penguins! After the Zoo, we stopped over to visit cousin Samantha. She grilled us dinner and Penny loved playing with Samantha's cats. I think Penny chased the cat's ball more than the cat's did.

After dinner, we started our drive towards home. What a great trip! Thanks so much to everyone who hosted us and made this trip such a great one! We have so many amazing memories from our quick visit :) Can't wait to see everyone again soon!

Road Trip - Part 5

The next morning, after visiting the hotel breakfast room twice, Penny took a swim in the hotel pool. The water was warm. Hot tub warm. And, Penny loved it! She just wanted to splash around and jump in. She put on a show for grammy! And kicked and splashed herself happy!
Afterwords, we got ready to say goodbye to Grammy and Pa and head towards Pittsburgh.

Penny had so much fun playing with Grammy and Pa during our trip!

And, we love the way she makes them smile!

Road Trip - Part 4

After the soccer game, we headed back to Aunt Susie's for a family picnic. We had a lot to celebrate. We got to meet the beautiful Elise!A jumperoo! How fun! Kyle is home after a year of studying abroad in Germany :)

Tommy & Stephen & Ellie graduated from HS and are headed to college.

Godfather Alex can make Penny giggle!

And Cousteau was the most well behaved of all the kids at the party!

Penny had a blast playing with her cousin Phil.

And great grandma Jeanne soaked up all the love from her great grandkids!

We packed the baby pool and Penny and Phil spent a good hour pouring water into cups and bottles.

We had an amazing afternoon and were so happy to see everyone. Of course, we really missed everyone who wasn't able to make it- like Luke and Jackie who are out in Colorado, Lyle who is heading off to the marines soon and Jackie who is in Vet school in Missouri. We hope that we'll see everyone next summer!

Road Trip - Part 3

After her best night of hotel sleep ever (she slept in the pack and play for the full night from 8:45pm - 7:45am), Penny & I enjoyed breakfast in the hotel resturant while daddy caught up on sleep. If I learned one thing about our girl on this trip it's that hotel breakfast buffets are her cup of tea! Our little miss ate an entire blueberry muffin, fruit and a yogurt. She loves everything about breakfast- milk with a straw, a waitress to smile at and other diners to flirt with. Major highlight of the trip for her. Other mornings she ate an assortment of waffles, raisin bread, english muffins, fruit and yogurt. Yum! While we got ready for the day, we discovered another one of Penny's loves- the mirrored closet door. She entertained herself while we got ready! We headed East, towards Aunt Susie's. While we were there, we got to see Everett play a soccer game. Penny absolutely LOVED the game! Now that we've been home more than a week, she is still telling us "Everett fast!" and "Everett kick soccer ball" and she's right- he is an amazing soccer player! We wish Everett all the best this season!

We also got to meet Godfather Alex's girlfriend Lindsey. Cuteness!
Here's Everett in action- he's #7.

Aunt Mary and Grayson came to cheer Everett on! Grandma Jeanne too :)

Penny had a blast! She's been kicking her little soccer ball around the living room since we got home :)

Perhaps we'll have a soccer star in the future?

Road Trip - Part 2

After our morning of fun with Great Grandma Jeanne, we headed over to Uncle Tom & Laurie's house. We spent some time at their community pool and Penny had a blast!

Penny LOVED swimming with daddy & Pa.She had an audience :) We are so happy that Becky, John & baby Addison and Nancy & Henry were able to join us.Here is Addie with her grandpa Tom.And Penny with her Pa.Thank you Tom & Laurie!Sweetest cousins!Penny was shivering and we still had to wrestle her out of the water. Here she is with Grammy, trying to warm up. In the meantime, Daddy and Pa tried to swim a few laps. They had a cheering section!Penny had a blast with everyone during her visit!

Summer 2011 Road Trip - Part 1

We took a road trip this past weekend. We left Thursday at bed time and drove out towards Pittsburg, spent the night in a hotel and drove to great grandma Jeanne's on Friday morning. Penny had a blast playing with Grammy, Pa and Jeanne! We went out to lunch and she loved it! Penny loves to color at the table when we wait for our food :)After lunch, we went to Malley's for some ice cream. It was Penny's first ride on the carousel! You get to eat your ice cream while riding slowly on the carousel. Coolest thing ever!
Girlfriend doesn't like chocolate, so we got her clown without. She LOVED it and ate the entire thing.Yay ice cream! She used her cone as an extra spoon to scoop it all up. We had a blast!

A Visit from the Droughton's

We had some visitors this weekend. Penny had a blast with Uncle Tom, Aunt Mary Lynn and Tommy. She showed Tommy all of her toys and kicked the soccer ball around the family room with him. Best buds! We can't wait to see them again!
We love having visits from family! Come back soon!

The Beach

Penny here! Hope you all had a great weekend. I went to the beach this week to see my cousins. And boy, do they know how to have fun! The taught me all about how to dig in the sand. The big girls were digging in the water and they let me play too!I had so much fun with Mommy, Nana, Aunt Becky & Adam.

I can't wait to go back to the beach :)
